WOUND HEALING COMPRESS. Comfrey, Symphytum officinale, contains the phytochemical Allatoin. Allatoin has been shown to be a cell reproduction support substance hence the use to heal damaged tissue like sprains & bruises & is found in wheat grass, beets, & chamomile in addition to comfrey. Comfrey has been also used to ages to help heal broken bones. Using comfrey over a sprain or bruise is easy as making a compress soaked in leaf & root tea, or my placing leaves in a wound wrap. An important note to remember is comfrey should be used for external wounds, avoiding ingestion except under appropriate healer-medical supervision. A comfrey salve may also be used as a skin care product, supporting healthy appearance. Comfrey is easy to grow & I’ve been amazed at how quickly sprains & bruises heal when supported with a fresh comfrey compress. #Prepperlife #Prepper#herbs #Comfrey #Symphytum#healingplants #alternativehealth#alternativemedicine#herbalmedicine #survival#outdoors #foraging #hiking#garden #bruises #wounds#medicine #ethnobotany #allatoin#permaculture #urbanfarm

Lizard's Tail

Medicinal native plant, Lizards Tail, Saururus cernuus

MEDICINE. ANTI-INFLAMMATORY. Lizard’s tail, Saururus cernuus, grows in wet areas, along creek banks & shallow water across the world. Lizards tail has been used by endemic peoples for eons as an anti-inflammation poultice/salve applied directly to inflamed area, or the entire plant simmered & taken as a tea for rheumatic issues. Lizard’s tail is most renown for being used to treat inflamed breasts (frequently referred to as breast-herb) and is closely related to the common black pepper plant). Stuck in a swamp with inflamed sores? Lizard’s tail would be a plant I’d look for. #Prepperlife#Prepper #Saururus #Lizardstail#Antiinflammatory #Ethnobotany#Botany #Natureart #Permaculture#Wetlandplants #Nativeplants#Medicinalplants #Survivalist#Foraging #Hiking #Swamps #Herbs#Herbalmedicine
